Hybrid (HEV)
Pairs a gasoline engine with an electric motor and a small self-charging battery.
A hybrid pairs a gasoline engine with one or more electric motors and a small battery. The battery charges itself from the engine and from braking; you never plug it in.
The electric motor assists during acceleration and handles low-speed creeping, which is why hybrids shine in city driving where conventional cars are weakest. Modern hybrids routinely rate above 45 MPG combined.
From the data: Of the 19,491 trims in the Trimslate dataset, 1,412 are hybrids.
