Plug-in hybrid (PHEV)
A hybrid with a bigger battery you charge from an outlet, for 20 to 50 electric-only miles.
A plug-in hybrid carries a larger battery than a regular hybrid and charges from an outlet or charging station. It typically covers 20 to 50 miles on electricity alone before the gasoline engine takes over.
If your daily driving fits inside the electric range, a PHEV can run gas-free for weeks while keeping full road-trip capability. The catch: drivers who never plug in are simply driving a heavier, thirstier hybrid.
From the data: Of the 19,491 trims in the Trimslate dataset, 401 are plug-in hybrids.
