Destination charge

The non-negotiable fee for shipping the vehicle from the factory to the dealer.

The destination charge covers shipping the vehicle from the factory to the dealership. It is set by the manufacturer, charged equally to every buyer of a model regardless of distance, and printed on the window sticker.

Unlike most line items it is genuinely non-negotiable. Current charges run roughly $1,000 to $2,000, and they have climbed faster than inflation, so include them when comparing prices across brands.
