High-power public charging that takes an EV from 10 to 80 percent in 20 to 45 minutes.

DC fast charging feeds direct current straight into the battery at 50 to 350 kilowatts, bypassing the car's slower onboard charger. A capable EV goes from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 20 to 45 minutes.

It is the road-trip tool, not the daily routine: charging slows sharply past 80 percent to protect the battery, and frequent fast charging ages a pack faster than home Level 2. Charging speed varies by car, so check the vehicle's maximum kW, not just the station's.
