Roadside assistance is the manufacturer's breakdown service: towing to a dealer, jump starts, lockout help, flat-tire changes, and fuel delivery. Most brands include it for at least the length of the basic warranty.

Coverage periods vary more than people expect, from 2 years to the full powertrain term depending on the brand. If you already carry an auto-club membership, overlapping coverage may be a place to save.
