Powertrain warranty

The powertrain warranty covers the expensive mechanical heart of the vehicle: engine, transmission, and the components that drive the wheels. It runs longer than the basic warranty, commonly 5 years or 60,000 miles.

Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis lead the industry at 10 years or 100,000 miles for the original owner. For EVs, federal rules separately require battery and drive components to be covered for at least 8 years or 100,000 miles.
